ROTHKO X SCULPTUREUM

Looking for the perfect winter outing?
Escape the ordinary with our Rothko x Sculptureum weekday lunch special — the ideal way to slow down and savour the season.

Available Thursdays and Fridays throughout winter, this $80 per person experience includes a thoughtfully crafted three-course lunch at Rothko Restaurant. Enjoy a warm welcome with a seasonal snack, followed by a small plate, main course and side dish — all designed by our talented chefs to showcase Rothko favourites.

Before or after lunch, take your time exploring the Sculptureum Experience. Wander through art-filled galleries, vibrant gardens, and whimsical sculpture trails that look especially magical in the softer light of winter.

Whether it’s a special catch-up, a long-overdue date, or a solo treat, this is your invitation to embrace the slower pace of the season. Bookings are essential.

New Works

Sculptureum is ever changing and evolving, you will see something new and exciting every time you visit. 

This is due to Mother Nature doing her part plus the addition of new works into the experience by Anthony Grant.

See below our recent additions:

  • The three frogs shown are currently on display in the galleries.

    The artist who made them lives in North Carolina, USA and Anthony considers him to be the best artist who makes humorous frogs today.

    The same artist recently made a life size frog playing a guitar for Sculptureum, which has been installed in Gallery 3.

  • Sculptureum recently put a “Singer Tractor” on display.

    The main part of the work came from a Singer sewing machine. The wheels came from an old Masport mower.

    The innovative artist who made the work is Sara Gillies of Central Otago.

  • This dog was installed in September 2024.  It is a speaker system, where the eyes are tweeters. It was bought in the United Kingdom, but is designed by a Kiwi.

    Anthony found it in a women’s clothing shop.

  • Works that are installed in The Palm Garden at Sculptureum tend to be more humorous than elsewhere at Sculptureum.

    The work shown in this photo above is of Michelangelo’s David, who has been attacked by a person with an ice cream.
